COSMO'S FACTORY IN ATLANTIC CITY
By Hank Bordowitz: "Those that stayed for Cosmo's Factory at the beautiful temporary venue
Donald Trump set up by his new Marina Hotel Casino saw a great show. For me, personally,
it was a great ending to a short vacation..."
The Cosmo's Factory Reviews have moved to the Cosmo's
Factory in Concert Section.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF FOGERTY AT
"STORYTELLERS"
By Joe Hannigan: " Excellent showcase of
John. Random thoughts:
Very cool to see the Fairfield FOUR (all 5 of 'em) singing 110 in the Shade.(Now I have an
idea who's singing what part; esp that guy singing bass!) ..."
By ALEX: " The show started with Looking out my
back door. Just John on acoustic guitar. Then tells about writing the song for his 3 year
old son back in 1970..."

Section.

JOHN FOGERTY ON VH1

program with songwriters telling how they came about writing their famous songs, and
performing them live. The program is scheduled for Sunday, June 29 at 10 p.m. (check
locallistings) and will be repeated several times the following week. John is also
scheduled to appear on the VH1 concert program "Hard Rock Live" in August.

JOHN FOGERTY SINGLE RELEASED IN AUSSIE
The catalog number is 93624 38892 and the extra songs are indeed 'Endless Sleep' and 'Just
pickin'.
CREDITS:
Walking in a Hurricane (composed by John
Fogerty, publisher Cody Music, ASCAP)
Endless Sleep (composed by Jody Reynolds/
Dolores Nance, Published Johnstone-Motel Music, Elizabeth Music Publishing, BMI
Just Pickin' (Composed by Freddie
King,...can't read the rest of it, too dark)
Arranged and produced by John Fogerty, Mixed by Bob
Clearmountain, Engineered by John Lowson, Mastered by Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering Studios.Recorded at Track Record, North
Hollywood, CA. Report by Robert Aerts, Belgium.
CD cover scan by Ian Gray, Australia.
REVIEW BY IAN GRAY
1. Walking In A Hurricane - Length: 3.22- Shorter than the album version at 3:41. That is,
the single starts on the guitar opening solo straight after the bass/drum intro/snare.
This seems odd since all the times I've heard the song on the radio, they play the full
version with the intro part in it. As far as I can hear, the song is the same take as on
the album.
2. Endless Sleep- Length: 2:35 - Good tune. It could have been included on the album if
needed. IMO, JCF's singing on this track is quite different from what I've heard in the
past and not as instantly recognisable. It sounds a little bit like Dan Baird from the
Georgia Satellites but I would suggest there is a bit of Jerry Lee Lewis and Rick Nelson
in his vocal delivery. It was composed by Jody Reynolds and Dolores Nance.
3. Just Pickin' -Length: 2.07 - A fun little guitar pickin' ride with JCF playin' some
cool licks on this instrumental composed by Freddie King. Hand claps and some fine backing
by the rhythm section makes this tune a pleasure to hear.
Total Play: 8.04
FOGERTY SIGNS AUTOGRAPHS IN SWEDEN
John Fogerty was in Stockholm tomorrow, June 24, at the NK department store
signing BMS. "I told him that I was following his tour through River Rising, which
he seemed to know well." Reported by Michael Bernander, Sweden.
"John sat for about 90 minutes and signed autographs at NK (large department-store)
in Stockholm. He looked great and was very nice to everone signing as many autographs you
wanted and shaking everybody´s hands twice. He really seemed to enjoy meeting his fans
and was in good spirits. His wife and children were with him. This happened yesterday,
June 24. The day before, June 23, he held two press conferences at Grand Hotel in
Stockholm and the media coverage was huge and he got very positive full page articles in
all major newspapers. He also taped a long interview (done by Ulf Larsson - huge CCR-fan)
which will be broadcasted on July 26 at 22.00 (TV1 or TV2)." Reported by Lars Petersson, Sweden.

all it was good to see JC again after all these years...".

for the Marriot Hotel and was changed at the last moment. It even was cancelled for a
short while. On Sunday June 22 John will be in a TV show called "Gottschalk's
Houseparty" that is broadcasted by SAT 1. This channel can be recieved all over
Europe if you tune your reciever and saucer on ASTRA (also other sattelites like

weekly show's broadcasted). On June 27, John with band will perform at the Hamburg

THE JOHN FOGERTY VH1 VIDEO [by Dana Doak]
The "Walkin' in a Hurricane" VH1 video is preceded by an interview-clip of John,
perhaps culled from his upcoming "Storytellers" program. This video is different
than any of John's prior ones, primarily in that it includes kind of a background story,
for want of a better description. The video has John and his road band performing the tune
(lipsyncing the album cut) in a rather dimly lit dive of a lounge with cracked plaster
walls. The video's "story" appears to involve a couple of seedy looking guys
sitting in the lounge's red vinyl booths and jockeying for position with an attractive
hussy. Later the woman goes out on the floor in front of the band and begins dancing,
kinda slow and slinky. More lounge patrons are now visible in the booths, including a
blonde lady who I believe is played by John's wife, Julie. Near the end of the song, some
fella takes this woman by the hand to either dance or leave. But then the video abruptly
changes gearsand becomes a video documentary: the picture wobbles a bit in cinema verite
style, cameras and boom mikes are now seen, and Julie (this is definitely her now) walks
up to John with her back to the camera and kisses him. Then when she turns around and her
face comes into view, the shot freezes, revealing Julie in an attractive low cut black
dress. Then fade-out.

OUR APRIL FOOL'S DAY JOKE
(Yes, Rock is fun and having fun is the opposite to being ouright stupid)
Breaking News - CCR Reunion Tour Announced! A Creedence Clearwater Revival
Reunion Tour was announced today, shortly after former frontsman John Fogerty, in an
unscheduled appearance in Court, said he was dropping all charges and claims he had
previously raised against bass player Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford. Reached in his
home, Stu Cook said on learning the news: "I'm glad to have contributed to my lawyers
well being. Now we're gonna have fun".Clifford was not available for comments.
Shortly after that Bob Fogerty faxed the entertainment media further information on the
Tour. John Fogerty's brother said the band would play all of Fogerty's tunes in the still
unreleased HOODOO album, a few songs he did at the Allstar TV Special, and some Stu/Cosmo
songs from the Don Harrison Band and the Doug Sahm days. No classic Creedence tunes are
considered since John Fogerty feels "the audience is not ready for such a major shock
like that. Besides, I never liked live recordings and Encores". Cook and Clifford
made no comments.
In views of the incoming Tour, John Fogerty said he was putting the release of his next
album "BLUE MOON SWAMP" on hold until after the Tour is over to avoid confusion,
image misappropriation charges and suspicions that he was going back to Creedence just to
promote his new solo record. The reunited band is slated for playing in El Cerrito,
California; in Berkeley at Tenth and Parker streets; in front of the L.A. Court of Appeals
and in the Incline Village.
The River Rising Web Site has been appointed the Official Web Page for the Creedence
Clearwater Revival Reunion Tour 1997. More to Come.

Rising that, according to his sources at Warner Brothers, the release date for John
Fogerty's new album is [so far] May 20th, 1997 and the title is [for now] Blue Moon Swamp.
Unconfirmed Release Date for John Fogerty Record - March 13.
River Rising List Member Gary Jackson, from the UK, reports that "According to Bob

world tour in the summer.
Cosmo's Factory Concert Date in Chattanooga - March 13.
Stu Cook and Doug Clifford's band, Cosmo's Factory, scheduled at the benefit for the March
of Dimes on April 19, 1997 at the University of TN Chattanooga.
Book on Creedence Clearwater Revival Announced - March 8.
Distinguished music critic and River Rising List subscriber Hank Bordowitz, from Suffern,
NY, let it be known today that he has signed a contract with publishing house Simon &
Schuster to write a book on CCR. Tentatively named ""The Most Important Part Was
Revival, The Unauthorized History Of Creedence Clearwater Revival," it is a tribute
to the band and the musicians who made up the group and their ability to reinvent
themselves over the course of the decades - from playing "Do You Want To Dance"
at sock hops, to cutting faux British Invasion Music, to working through the CCR vision,
through Southern Pacific and the Sir Douglas Quintet and Revival and Centerfield.
Bordowitz, a long time Creedence fan, met Tom Fogerty shortly before the guitarist passed
away in 1990, and holds important material on the band. So far John Fogerty and his
brother Bob have declined to talk with the author, who says the book shall be
"unauthorized, but I intend to be scrupulously fair." Release is expected no
sooner than September of this year.
FEBRUARY 1997
Cosmo's Factory Concerts in February - Feb 12.
Stu Cook and Doug Clifford's band will perform at Konocti Harbor Resort, Clear Lake, CA on
the 21st/22nd of February.
Warner Music Canada will release new John Fogerty album when it becomes
available - Feb 1997.
The new John Fogerty album does not have a scheduled release date as of it. The release
date depends on artists availability to tour and promote the record, and by how much time
it takes to set promotions and marketing around the release. A source close to Warner
Music Canada said that they will release the album in Canada at the same time as the
USA.
JOHN FOGERTY RELEASES MASTER TAPES OF NEW ALBUM TO HIS LABEL - February 4th.
It was announced today that John Fogerty has delivered the maste tapes for a so far
untitled solo album to Warner Bros. Records. The production, according to Billboard
Bulletin, has twelve songs. Some of the titles are "Rambunctious Boy,"
"Southern Streamline" and "110 In The Shade," the latter of which
features veteran gospel group the Fairfield Four. No commercial release has yet been
announced, but it is expected no late than April. Forwarded by Adam Bryant.
The announcement must be taken to mean that the tapes were submited by Fogerty within the
previous two months and that now they have been approved by Warner Bros.
JANUARY 1997
JOHN FOGERTY VAPORWARE: IS THE WATER BOILING? - January 11.
According to River Rising subscriber and biggest canadian CCR records collector Bruno Berthold, John Fogerty has just completed
his new album. There is not a release date yet and it has not been titled.
CREEDENCE BOXED SET ON HOLD - January 11. The announced
release of a Creedence Clearwater Revival Boxed Set which would include a remastered
offering of all CCR legal albums plus the Royal Albert Hall Concert Video has been put on
hold, since the Stu Cook-Doug Clifford team is busy with their COSMO'S FACTORY 1997 Tour,
and John Fogerty has shown no interest at all in the Boxed Set idea. So it's entirely up
to Fantasy Records, the label which still
publishes in various forms the CCR catalogue.
New John Fogerty Recording Vaporware -January 3.
(Reported by Bruno Berthold) - According to a
fax sent by Bob Fogerty, the new long awaited record from John Fogerty will be out at the
end of January 1997 (this month). In the Modern Drummer magazine there's s an article on
Curt Bishera (drummer) that says that he plays on the upcoming John Fogerty album. This
time it looks true that the new John Fogerty album will be out very soon.
