GIGANTIC RIVER RISING GATHERING
At the time of this writing - Aug. 22- at least five River Rising List members
including List Manager Javier Diaz, from Santiago [Chile] are planning to attend the Creedence
Clearwater Revisited gig in Lancaster, CA on the 29th. People interested in
joining the party can send an email to ALEX or Michael RAZ Rescigno. You don't need to be registered at the
List to join, but surely you'll want to register after this!
PREMONITION VIDEO
Release of PREMONITION VIDEO, the 1997-1998 John Fogerty live album, has been
announced for August 11 on vidocassette, and August 18 for DVD. No laser disc announced.

JOHN FOGERTY GUITAR WORLD INTERVIEW
Another controversial -at least to old CCR fans-
John Fogerty interview in July's issue of Guitar World magazine. Exerts:
JF: "For
years people have called many of my songs 'Creedence songs.' But I want to make it clear
that it was my vision that made Creedence what it was. In 1968, you would've asked anyone
else from the band if they'd ever heard of Hank Williams, Stephen Foster or any of these
people, the answer would have been no."
GW: What was your role in Creedence and what did the other members contribute?
JF: "Now, I'm not going to slam the other guys -you know, to me it's just a matter of
fact. The simple way to answer the question to you is, I always taught the band their
parts. Many times -in fact, most of the time- they never heard the melodies until after
the record came out."
GW: You recorded the vocals after they did their parts?
JF: "Yes. I showed the band how each part went -I showed them the music that fit the
song I had written. And when I showed them the music, I did not sing the vocals to them.
The did not have a clue how 'Proud Mary' went, and I'm going to go further with that and
say that many times they didn't even know what the song was called until the recording was
finished and mixed."
GW: Does that make them the equivalent of session musicians?
JF: "That is indeed their function. For example, on 'Down on the Corner,' I showed
Stu how the bass riff went, and of course it was my job to double it. Then I showed Tom
how to play the rhythm part, which was overdubbed later because Tom has a lot of trouble
playing the part.
"Yes, it was John Fogerty showing each guy exactly how his part went. Long before
anyone knew about Creedence, I had always shown the band members the arrangements."
"We didn't read music, of course, so I had to do it by example, I guess. This meant
that somebody, one person, resolved all the musical problems. All the thinking, all the
work was done beforehand. The bass part for 'Green River,' for example, went together with
the drum beat and the rhythm guitar part because someone had worked it out. It wasn't the
result of endless jamming, if you know what I'm saying."
JF: "For example, I can remember the song 'Born to Move', there was a little point
between where my vocals stopped and the solo instrumental part, and I told Stu, 'All
right, here's four bars here, between here and here, come up with something.' Some sort of
transition. And, you know, we sat there for like two and a half hours waiting for him to
come up with that little bridge."

Premonition by John Fogerty and Recollection, by
Creedence Clearwater Revisited, are currently on sale in the United States. Premonition is
distributed worldwide by Reprise Records, a WB subsidiary.Distribution deals are in the
making for Recollection.

FOGERTY, CHICAGO, JUNE 12 POSTPONED [4]
John Fogerty's summer- long ``Premonition'' Tour was to have kicked off next Friday,
June 12 at Chicago's New World Music Theater in Tinley Park, Ill.
The date was booked several months ago, and tickets had been on sale for some time when it
became apparent that the performance date was in direct conflict with the fifth game of
the NBA playoffs. As every Chicagoan is now aware, the game is, potentially,
the last Bulls home game in Michael Jordan's career.
Out of respect to the team, the fans, the employees of the World Theater and Michael
Jordan, the show has been postponed to Sunday, July 26. Tickets purchased for the June 12
show will be honored at the July 26 performance, and the ``Premonition'' Tour will kick
off in Indianapolis at Deer Creek Music Center on Saturday, June 13.
Fogerty commented: ``When we realized just what this day might mean to the folks in
Chicago, it only made sense to postpone the show. Besides, it gives the band and me a
chance to catch the game, too'' (From Entertainment Wire.)

VH1 is promoting its June 6, 8 PM "LEGENDS - JOHN FOGERTY" show as an
"In-depth profile of John Fogerty features previously unseen home movies, stills,
backstage footage and interviews with his former Creedence Clearwater Revival bandmates
Doug Clifford and Stu Cook."
JOHN FOGERTY TO SWITCH DRUMMERS AGAIN
Steve Ferrone will not be joining John for his upcoming tour. He was just the
drummer for New Orleans. John's new drummer is Michael Cartilone, from
Damn Yankees.
CCRv DEBUTS EUROPEAN TOUR
Creedence Clearwater Revisited -Stu Cook and Doug Clifford's band- began its RECOLLECTION
European Tour 1998 with a concert at Sondenborg, Denmark. See the On

PREMONITION ADVANCE CD
Premonition - John Fogerty's live album - has a blue and white shot of JF holding his
Gibson with one hand in the air. It's on reprise 2-46908-AB Promo only. The commercial
album is due in stores on June 9th. Promo ship dates Album Advance 4/21, Promo to Stores
5/5 and to radio 5/12.

VH1 will air Premonition 90 min. concert film on June 6 at 9pm.

CENSORSHIP CALLED UPON BY PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS
Some fans involved in the management of Swamp List - a mail list attributed to John
Fogerty but which is in fact a fully-independent operation - have called for a public
campaing against Hank Bordowitz's upcoming book on Creedence. Even though the book will be
published only in October and that those persons have had no prior access to it, they
started the post spam campaing which follows:
"Amazon.com is taking advanced orders for the book and it has a place
where you can write commentary about the book. We're asking fellow John Fogerty fans to
join us in getting the word out that this book does not tell the complete story and that
people need to be wary about it. If you'd like to add your comments then please go to the

"Your support is appreciated. You may not have read the book,
but you can say that it is a one-sided story and everyone needs to approach it with that
in mind. Let everyone know that the "Unauthorized" part of the title needs to

The Book's author reply:
"How DARE you pass judgement on something you haven't even read? How
do you know that the book is biased? Are you telepaths? Have you been reading my hard
disk? People who have read it have found the book remarkably objective, despite John's
refusal to talk.
"I did talk to dozens of peopel who were there, including Jake Rohrer, who was
friendly with the band from Portola Jr. High onward, and worked with the band from 1969
on, and later worked FOR JOHN, until 1977.
"Bob Fogerty, who corrected some of my early assumptions.
Gail Fogerty, Tom's wife.
I interviewed Tom in 1981.
Lisa Taylor, John's sister-in-law, contributed some helpful information.
Russ Gary, who was in the studio for most of their recordings.
John [Fogerty] had more than ample opportunity to talk to me and refused. However, the
book is not biased.
"I am a critic, but I'm mostly a JOURNALIST. An ethical journalist. This book is not
a slam. It is carefully researched with over 500 sources.
"It is a balanced attempt to make sense out of a complicated and tragic piece of rock
history, and I'm hurt that you would attack it without any knowledge of what's in it. If,
after you read the book, you want to start a letter writing campaign, or a mass book
burning, that's your perogative. Until then, attempt to keep an open mind.

JOHN FOGERTY AT RADIO CITY MH
Radio City Productions today announced John Fogerty will appear at Radio City Music
Hall on Thursday, July 2 at 8:00 pm, as part of the Mercedes-Benz Tri-State Dealer Concert
Series. Tickets go on sale Monday, May 4 at 10:00 am at the Radio City Box Office and
Ticketmaster. Tickets for Fogerty's concert at Radio City are priced at $42, $52 &

RECOLLECTION TO BE RELEASED JUNE 2
"RECOLLECTION", Creedence Clearwater Revisited's live double CD shall be
released on June 2 on FUEL2000/MCA Records in the U.S.A. and Canada. European release date
and distribution are yet to be announced. Sound files, incluing Real Audio, can be

PREMONITION UPDATED: ALBUM RELEASE, TV
SPECIAL, VIDEO DISK
ENTERTAINMENT WIRE of April 24 carries a full update on PREMONITION, John Fogerty's live
CD. The new album is set for release on Reprise Records June 9. Premonition
comprises 18 songs, including 16 Fogerty originals and signature renditions of "Susie
Q" and "I Put a Spell on You," all recorded live on a soundstage the the
Warner Bros. Studio lot last Dec. 13 and 14 last year. Included are such Fogerty
perennials as "Born On The Bayou," "Green River," "Who'll Stop
The Rain," "Down On The Corner," "Bad Moon Rising,"
"Fortunate Son," "Proud Mary," "Travelin' Band,"
"Centerfield" and "Old Man Down The Road" as well as Blue Moon Swamp
selections "Joy Of My Life," "Swamp River Days" and "Hot Rod
Heart." Also included is a new Fogerty original, "Premonition," written
especially for this set. Premonition also highlights "Almost Saturday
Night" and "Rockin' All Over The World," here given fresh and innovative
treatments.
With the June 6 release of Premonition, VH1 will air a special edition of
its Legends series,
dedicated to the life and music of Fogerty. The hour-long tribute will be followed by an
extended 90-minute version of the Premonition concert. June will also see the release on
Warner Reprise Video of the Premonition concert, with material not included on the audio
